  5. 7 WordPress Security Tips to Lock Down your Site
  6. Getting the Most from Yoast: SEO Settings Tour
  7. How to Use Google Analytics on WordPress
  8. How to Use Webmaster Tools and Make Google your Friend
  9. 8 Top Social Media Channels to Promote your Blog
  10. How to Start a Blog Podcast and Give Voice to your Posts

Created with Pressbooks

For this ebook I used Pressbooks, the amazing software-as-a-service (SaaS) formatting tool from Montreal. The service is hyper-intuititive to use since the dashboard is a near replica of WordPress.

Once logged in, you’ll start a new book and it saves on the Pressbooks server. To load your posts, you need to export them as XML files from your WordPress installation and them import them into Pressbooks. They appear as separate posts and can be edited and rearranged easily.

Pressbooks has lots of themes to format your ebook. My choice for Escalate Your WordPress Website is Howe.

When exported as ePub, Mobi or PDF, the Table of Contents is automatically anchor linked and all the photos appear in order. I did need to adjust the photo sizes and arrangements for the different formats, but that was easy too.

Pressbooks does have a memory limit for their free service. If you surpass eight megabytes, as I did with all these images, you’ll need to upgrade. Upgrading to Ebook Pro removes watermarks in the ePub and Mobi versions, and Ebook and PDF Pro removes watermarks in all three formats. To save 25% on your upgrades, enter “MariKane” in the Pressbooks coupon box.

Escalate Your WordPress Website is available here for free in both PDF and ePub formats.
