Using the Vantage Theme to your Advantage

I had the opportunity to use a cool new theme this week called Vantage, and thought I’d tell you about it. It’s very clean and minimalistic, perfect for a business site. And it’s responsive, so your site will look perfect on any device.

Created by Site Origin, Vantage was released in September 2013, and has already been downloaded over 37,847 times.

Vantage is available through the WordPress theme repository and best of all, it’s Free!

I auditioned Vantage on a site called Palm Desert Rental, which I loaded with Booking Calendar and HMS Testimonials plugins. Both plugins work and look great on it. I liked Vantage so much, I’m using it to redesign my hub site, marikane.com.

Here are some highlights of Vantage.

DreamHost

slider settingsSlider Action

Vantage uses a nice slider called MetaSlider Lite. But, Lite is deceiving. This slider is packed with features that give you four different slider styles: FlexSlider, Responsive, NivoSlider and CoinSlider. Lots of setting beyond size and speed, including Advanced and Developer Options for more control, and the Premium version offers video and animation.

Theme Settings

There are a decent number of theme options in Vantage: Logo, Layout, Home, Navigation, Blog, Social, and General. Logo, Navigation and Social have upgrade options which you may decide are necessary. But, maybe not.

Page Builder

This is an easy way to set up your static home page elements. The drag and drop grid comes as 33.3% icon boxes, 100% stretched headlines, and 66.6% recent posts and 33.3% widgets, but of course all that can be changed by hitting Edit or “+” to change the elements. Very flexible for adding blocks of text and images below the slider.

Upgrade

Pick your budget! Upgrade by paying $0 for budget to $50 for “A huge contribution to its development.” Or pay a Custom amount for more money. And if you’re not thrilled, Site Origin offers a 60-day refund, so you can’t beat that. That’s the part I like the most. Gauranteed satisfaction.

So if you’re looking to upgrade Twenty-Thirteen to something more sophisticated, try Vantage. It’s a good free theme for your business website to get you started with slider and page blocks.
