If you live in Vancouver, I will teach you how to get your blog up and running in a 90-minute WordPress Workshop held at Blenz on Broadway and Heather.
In a group of no more than 5 bloggers you will get the scoop on getting started, get your site appraised, get your questions answered, and get ideas from me and other bloggers on taking your blog where you want it to go.
According to the wishes of the group, we’ll go through the WordPress dashboard and tool bar to explain the functions of the tools. Then we’ll practice using the media library, upload some necessary plugins, play with widgets, and work with search engine optimization. If there’s time, we’ll look at themes and customizing the design and layout.
If that doesn’t satisfy, you can come back the next week for more help with things like keywording, RSS feeds, social media, blog writing, and video embedding.
I am a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco Master of Internet Marketing program, although I’ve worked on websites since 1996. I could teach you Dreamweaver, but as a writer and blogger, I’ve determined that WordPress is the way to go whether you use it as a blogsite or as an interactive web site.
I presently maintain four blogs and can convert a website to a fully functional blogsite in under ten hours. You can see my work at Blogsites.
Classes start at 7 pm on Tuesdays. Fee is only $15 per person, maximum of 5. (Plus the coffee you buy to get a wireless password, of course.) This Blenz has nice horseshoe seating in the window that allows me to look over your shoulder, and there are plenty of plugs. Laptop or iPad is required.
You must RSVP ahead of time to give me information on what you’re working with: theme, plugins, experience level, etc. The more I know, the better I can help you get started with WordPress.
Email me and come to my next class on October 11.
See you there!
Please subscribe to Blogsite Studio and Like it on Facebook. Cheers!
