WordCamp is the SXSW for WordPress users, a grassroots-organized tech conference for both users and developers, with sessions that are both basic and advanced. So, you can float between rooms based on your knowledge and skill set. Or, hang out and meet other WordPressers and talk about the latest whatever.
To get a taste of WordCamp, check out some of the presentations. Almost all WordCamps are videotaped these days.
WordCamps are heavily sponsored so the price of tickets is cheap, and lunch is included. And there’s always an after party so you can network in a more lubricated environment.

Speak at WordCamp
You don’t need a PhD in WordPressology to speak at WordCamp. All you need is a fluent understanding about one particular aspect, a professional speaking style, and the ability to put together a Powerpoint presentation.
I have spoken about How to Set Up a WordPress Site, WordPress in Ten Steps, and Take Control of Search Optimization with WP SEO by Yoast. These experiences were both fun and challenging, and ultimately satisfying.
